About Human Blood Plasma

Human-Origin Plasma for Clinical and Laboratory Use

Human blood plasma is the acellular fluid fraction of human blood, separated from red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets by centrifugation after anticoagulant treatment. It carries clotting factors, immunoglobulins, albumin, and blood components that serum-based preparations lose when blood clotting consumes fibrinogen and coagulation proteins.

Donated plasma collected from screened human donors provides the starting material for both research applications and plasma protein therapies developed through plasma donation programs. Frozen plasma formats preserve clotting factors and labile proteins through controlled storage, maintaining the biological activity that whole-blood-derived fractions need to retain during processing and shipment.

In research, blood plasma supports immunoassay development, blood pressure regulation studies, and diagnostic reagent validation, where a complete human protein matrix is the requirement. Normal human serum provides the parallel serum-fraction option for applications where clotting factors are not required.

For species-matched multi-origin panels, human blood plasma pairs with rabbit plasma and feline plasma in cross-species protein comparison workflows. Human IgG antibody detection reagents integrate directly into plasma-based immunoassay formats. Research use only.
